Book Review ~ Hitler Youth


Bartoletti, S. (2005). Hitler Youth. NY: Scholastic. 

Summary
In this non-fiction story, Susan Campbell Bartoletti describes life for children living in Germany and surrounding areas during the Nazi take over.  She vividly describes how many youth were taken by the power and passion of the groups they were to join.   They were taught physical fitness, work ethic, and above all else loyalty to the group and to Hitler himself for the good of Germany.  Those who did not comply faced horrible consequences.

Analysis
This book demonstrates accuracy and factual data. It is full of photographs with primary ad secondary accounts of the events. Not only does this book have documentation of the research done to write it, but it has won numerous awards and recognition.
